Kimberly Krutz has substituted since the Fall of 1988 as Bassoonist and
Contrabassoonist with the Kansas City Symphony. She performs regularly with
the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, the newEar Contemporary Music
Ensemble, has substituted as contrabassoonist with the St. Louis Symphony,
played with the Omaha Symphony in April, 2010, with Orchestra Iowa (Cedar
Rapids, IA) in March, 2011 and as co-Principal Bassoonist for the Endless
Mountain Music Festival in the Summer of 2011. Previously, she performed with the Kansas City Camerata, the Springfield (IL and MO) Symphonies, and five seasons with the Missouri Symphony Society based in Columbia, Missouri, with one season as Principal Bassoonist.

 

Besides being an occasional featured soloist or orchestral performer with various ensembles in and around the Kansas City area, Kim performed for many years as bassoonist with the Mariah Wind Trio. She has been a performer in chamber music recitals at the Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium, International Double Reed Society Conferences in Tempe, Arizona, Austin, Texas, Provo, Utah, and at the National Flute Association Conferences in San Diego, California and in Kansas City, Missouri.

 

Kim maintains a private teaching studio in her home and has been an adjudicator for the KMEA Regional and All-State Solo and Ensemble Festivals for several years.
In July, 2012 she was the Bassoon clinician at the Kansas Bandmasters
Association Summer Convention in Wichita, Kansas. Previously, Kim participated
in masterclasses with Kenneth Munday, Milan Turkovic, Charles Ullery, Loren
Glickman, Mark Popkin and Richard Svoboda, and studied with Howard
Halgedahl, Alan Hawkins, and Marita Abner. Kim is a graduate of the University
of Kansas (BME, Bassoon minor) and the University of Missouri - Kansas City
(MM in Bassoon). From Fall 2002 to Spring 2012 she taught as adjunct faculty
Bassoon instructor at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, and started in Fall
of 2011 as adjunct faculty Bassoon instructor at Mid America Nazarene
University.
