FILIP LAZOVSKI

Violinist Filip Lazovski was born in 1983 in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. In 2001, Filip was awarded a scholarship to come to the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan.

Filip is a graduate from the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Oleh Krysa. He studied with Edward Dusinberre of the Takács Quartet, along with Lina Bahn and Judith Ingolfsson at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Filip has given solo and chamber recitals across the United States and in leading Macedonian music festivals. He has participated in summer festivals including Kent Blossom Music Festival, Madeline Island and the National Repertory Orchestra.

He has won numerous prizes and awards including a performance award from the Interlochen Arts Academy, grand prize at the National Violin Competition in Skopje, Macedonia in 2000 and third place at the Fichoff National Chamber Music Competition in Notre Dame, Indiana in 2003. In 2011, he won second prize from the Tuesday Musical Association in Akron, Ohio.

Filip was the first violinist of the Aidan String Quartet. He received a Masters in Chamber Music at Kent State University studying with the Miami String Quartet. Filip recently earned an Artist Certificate at the University of Missouri at Kansas City with Benny Kim, and is now regularly performing with the Kansas City Symphony.
